Study description
According to the World Health Organization, sub-saharan Africa has the greatest proportion of new cases of tuberculosis (TB) per population. Thus, healthcare workers practicing in this region present a high risk of exposure and infection with TB. To address this issue, the current study aims to estimate the incidence rate of TB diseases (all forms, including drug-resistant) among all employees of the Free State and Gauteng Departments of Health from 2009-2012 who had worked in the health department at least one month.
